   Forest Hill Village

Forest Hill Village is the part of Forest Hill that encompasses most of the original area of the village. It is located on a two block radius area at Spadina Road and Lonsdale Road.   It is a quaint strip of stores that has the feel of country living within a city. There are boutiques, upscale restaurants, coffee shops, various retail stores and a grocery store. The stores cater to the specific needs of Forest Hill’s affluent community. 

Need a cup of coffee and want to catch up on some gossip? There are two main coffee shops, Star Bucks and Second Cup. But…sshhhh…the rumor is that….. Aroma Espresso Bar is now open in the Village, and is a very happening place.  Aroma is noted for its gourmet coffee, fresh and healthy food, a pleasant atmosphere and great service. Aroma Espresso Bar was founded in 1994 and has been making Israel’s best-tasting coffee since.

Need to grab a bite to eat?  There are numerous choices…Sotto Sotto for fine Italian cuisine. The small Italian bistro in Forest Hill is cousin to legendary celeb hangout Sotto Sotto on Avenue Road. Menu items include lasagna, steaks, ribs, and rich desserts. Open for lunch, dinner and brunch on Sundays.

Banfi, which is a casual Italian restaurant that doesn’t take reservations, and generally a line-up, is the norm. But locals love to frequent this restaurant that has been a mainstay in the Village for Pizza Banfi has been home to Forest Hill Village since 1988. Banfi was named after a famous Italian actor Lino Banfi. Giovanni Turano, known to all as Nino, was born in Genova, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1982. His origin is reflected in the menu offering food from the North and South of Italy. Pizza Banfi became famous and well known for its gourmet thin crust pizza.

Feel like sushi? Edo is the Forest Hill choice. Fresh sushi, and friendly service. And a long time summer favourite is the Village Chill, for ice creams and yogurts….Yum. Machu Machu Mediterranean Grill is another Middle Eastern restaurant with freshly made dishes that satisfy most appetites.

Need bread?  What a Bagel has a branch in The Village. They have the a large variety of bagels, freshly baked on the premises, plus prepared foods. And there is an area to sit, eat your meal and enjoy a coffee.  And Cobs Breads is also found here.  Yummy choices!  Healthy grains and freshly baked as well.

All the major banks are represented here—Royal Bank of Canada, CIBC, TD Canada Trust, Scotia Bank, Bank of Montreal and the HSBC.  There are other retail establishments, a spa, a yoga studio, clothing stores, a barber shop.  And the Kitchen Table has fresh groceries, meats and flowers. This two block “The Village” offers a lot to the local residents, and those that want a break from the hectic hustle and bustle of Toronto.
