Governor’s Bridge/Rosedale Tidbit

Did you know? In Governor’s Bridge and in Rosedale (these two communities are linked by Governor’s Bridge) there is a tiny strip market place on Summerhill Avenue, with a drycleaner and a few other retailers, but most importantly, the best kept secret is Summerhill Market. This market is considered to be an upscale market, with fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, unusual foods from around the world, a large variety of dairy and cheeses, as well as a beautiful meat department. Choice cuts of meat, are displayed in a very appetizing manner, and if one can’t make up one’s mind as to what’s for dinner, their prepared food counter is amazing. Besides the usual cold cuts and some prepared salads, there are shrimps, bbq’d chicken, and even Salmon Wellington that melts in the mouth…yummy. But this is not all. The food journey is almost over, but not quite. There are countless shelves of jars of prepared soups, some with low sodium, and prepared vegetables, complete meals, pasta, and even sandwiches. For take-out as well, there are delicious salads, all prepared in generous portions with such salads, as cobb with chicken, Caesar with bacon and chicken, roast beef, arugula with fruit and vegetables. A healthy portion for lunch with left-overs. Fresh breads, wonderful displays of delicious and fattening sweets and desserts, gourmet coffees, are found here with some of the usual canned and boxed foods that are prevalent in other establishments. The best part of this shopping experience is the friendly staff that work at the Summerhill Market. They are very obliging and helpful. This place is a wonderfully kept secret, and hopefully not for too much longer, and well worth the trip to check out an alternative to Pusateri’s.
